Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple

Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple at Kodumthara is a prominent Murugan temple in Kerala, renowned for its divine atmosphere and ancient spiritual roots. Dedicated to Lord Subramanya, also known as Velayudha Swamy, the temple is beautifully situated along the calm banks of the Achankovil River in Pathanamthitta district. The temple stands out for its traditional Kerala-style architecture. The circular sanctum sanctorum (Srikovil) with its conical roof is a distinctive feature, differing from the more common rectangular designs seen in other temples. Rooted in history, it is believed that the temple was established during the third or fourth century by the Shakti Bhadras of Chenneerkara Swaroopam, early Tamil rulers.
